Winning their first American League flag since indelibly tarnishing the franchise image with the 1919 Black Sox disgrace, the Chicago White Sox returned to the Fall Classic in 1959. Amid a fervor that saw Mayor Richard J. Daley sound the air raid sirens (an unpopular stunt, to say the least), (21) members of that “Go Go Sox” squad autographed this baseball. The clean and creamy OAL Harridge sphere (grade “8”) presents beautifully and is decorated with blue ballpoint pennings that resonate (“8-9”) quality. Includes: Sweet Spot: Lopez (manager); North Panel: Wynn, Goodman, Peters, Martin and Esposito; South Panel: Lown, Berres (coach), Cuccinello (coach), Kluszewski, Carreon, Donovan and Pierce (clubhouse); West Panel: Cooney (coach), Landis, McAnany and Donovan (clubhouse); East Panel: Callison, Fox, McBride, Latman, Staley, Aparicio, Phillips (clubhouse) and Shaw (clubhouse). Note: an inscription reading “To our pal Steve” was penned in an unknown hand on the sweet spot. Full photo LOA from JSA.
