“Collectionnez Vos Joueurs Favoris.” For those outside the province of Quebec, that translates to “Get Your Favorite Hockey Players.” Such are the proclamations on this rare and incredibly well-preserved retail display. Showcasing (50) symmetrically arranged pin back buttons, the thick stock item measures 14 x 18-1/2” and was intended for display at the Montreal Forum and local establishments during the 1969-70 season (the lone campaign over a 46-year span in which Montreal failed to make the NHL Playoffs). The celluloid souvenirs measure 1-3/4” and feature black-and-white likenesses of (14) different Canadiens players. Includes: (8) Rogatien Vachon; (7) Serge Savard; (5) Jean Beliveau; (5) Henri Richard; (4) Ralph Backstrom; (4) Yvan Cournoyer; (4) John Ferguson; (4) Jean Claude Tremblay; (2) Jacques Laperriere; (2) Jacques Lemarie; (2) Claude Provost; (1) Terry Harper; (1) Ted Harris; and (1) Mickey Redmond. The display board features a fully functioning easel back. Minor and nearly indiscernible peripheral creases are offset by the bright red background and the familiar Canadiens logo. The pins remain pristine, each featuring a “Made in Canada” stamping.
