Crossover appeal beckons baseball and military collectors with this antique CDV photo. Credited with the invention of the game of baseball, Abner Doubleday also gained notoriety as a commanding general during the Civil War, who saw action at the pivotal Battle of Gettysburg. Encapsulated and designated Authentic by SGC, this 2-1/2 x 4" photo card shows fantastic quality, with white borders, nice corners, clean surfaces and a sharp image against a bright background. The reverse side is printed with "Brigadier-General Abner Doubleday", readily identifying the subject and also dating the photo to 1862-1863, when Doubleday held the brevet rank of Brigadier.
