The first player to represent five different teams in the Mid-Summer Classic, former slugger Gary Sheffield was deadly in any uniform, launching 509 career home runs. The controversial and oft-moody slugger posts additional numbers (quite literally) in this lot of (50) autographed uniform numerals. Each is an 8”-tall block-style “1” tailored to match the block-style satin twill numbers Sheffield wore during his tenure with the New York Yankees. Each is signed vertically in silver Sharpie. The scriptings take well to the fabric and average (“8”) quality. Auction LOA from JSA.

Did you know … along with Ty Cobb and Rusty Staub, Sheffield is one of only three players in Major League history to homer as a teenager and after the age of 40.
