Less than two years removed from a World Series title, Boston Red Sox owner and theatre agent Harry Frazee engineered the ill-advised sale of Babe Ruth to the then-mediocre New York Yankees. What ensued were eight-plus decades of heartache orchestrated by (most notably) Enos Slaughter, Bucky Dent, the sizable gap between the ground and Bill Buckner’s mitt, and countless other “near-misses.” And finally in 2004, against perhaps the steepest of odds, the BoSox roared back from a 3 games-to-0 deficit to overtake the Yankees and then breezed to a World Series win over the Cardinals. This OML baseball is autographed by (23) members of that miraculous Fenway squad. The snow-white orb (grade “9-10”) showcases blue ballpoint scriptings that average (“9”) strength. Includes: Sweet Spot: Francona (manager); North Panel: Bellhorn, Foulke, Varitek, Nixon, Jackson (coach), Millar and Myers; South Panel: Arroyo, Mueller, Schilling, Damon, P. Martinez and Roberts; West Panel: Jones (coach), Leskanic, Mirabelli and unidentified; East Panel: Kapler, Mientkiewicz, Youkilis, Wakefield and Ortiz. MLB Authentication hologram and full photo LOA from JSA.
