Rich with tradition in their own ranks, the St. Louis Cardinals honored baseball’s 100th Anniversary and the existing members of the Hall of Fame prior to their August 24, 1969 Sunday afternoon contest at Busch Stadium. Issued for those festivities, this souvenir program is autographed by (28) of those esteemed Cooperstown inductees. The tri-fold souvenir measures 8x10” and features biographical information and photos of the then living Hall of Famers. Whether secured on that day or at subsequent events, the autograph seeker did amazingly well! The piece is affected by separation along the first and second page border, but remains complete. In various writing instruments, coveted signatures average (“8-9”) potency, with many even nicer! Includes: Appling, Carey, Coveleski (signed twice), Cronin, Dickey, DiMaggio, Faber, Feller, Frisch, Gehringer, Grimes, Grove, Hartnett, Hoyt, Hubbell, Lyons, McCarthy, Medwick, Musial, Rice, Roush, Ruffing, Stengel, Terry, Traynor, L. Waner, Wheat and T. Williams. Full photo LOA from JSA.

Incidentally, the existing Hall of Famers weren’t the only immortals on hand that day. Following the pre-game festivities, the Cardinals and Atlanta Braves played for more than three hours before Hank Aaron launched a 3-run homer to break a 1-1 tie in the 14th inning. It was the 544th circuit clout of his career.
