In the wake of his World Series MVP performance in which he fired two complete games and struck out 23 Yankees, Sandy Koufax earned front cover billing on the April 13, 1964 Sports Illustrated Baseball Preview Issue, a rare "Dark Era Print" survivor. Encapsulated and Graded Very Fine+ 8.5 by CGC, this is the lone specimen at its tier with none graded higher. The front cover asks: “Can the pitchers stay on top?” Well, Koufax certainly did that year, leading the National League in winning percentage (.792) and ERA (1.74).
