Anticipating perhaps another .400 hitter in the Senior Circuit, the July 3, 1967 issue of Sports Illustrated showcased a front cover graph progressively listing Aaron (1959, .355), Musial (1948, .376), Vaughan (1935, .385) and Terry (1930, .401). Pictured, however, was Roberto Clemente, who had flirted with .400 that year (he was actually at .402 on May 21) and went on to post a career-best .357 mark. Encapsulated and Graded Very Fine- 7.5 by CGC, this periodical is the lone specimen at its tier with only one graded higher. This rare "Dark Era Print" keepsake ranks #4 on the "Hardest to Find" list. Vibrant colors help account for the technical grade.
