While his team’s fortunes sometimes waned, Roberto Clemente’s talents never did. Killed in a selfless relief effort on New Year’s Eve, 1972, Clemente left an undying legacy as one of the most complete ballplayers that ever lived. This Clemente autograph is among the strongest we’ve seen. Framed and matted to 12-3/8 x 17-3/16”, a piece of lined paper (3/1-2 x 2” visible image area) is signed by Clemente in black ballpoint (“9” strength) and inscribed “Best Wishes.” The Hall of Famer’s customary two-tier endorsement is as unmistakable as his face, which accents the display in an 8x10” color photo displayed just above.
