Description

Dated 1/17/69,  the Dodger-stationery letter addresses a complex financial situation regarding Gil Hodges' pay, while also mentioning the New York Mets and Dick Schofield Sr. "I would like to get this matter straightened out as Joan Hodges called me," O'Malley writes. It measures 8-1/2 x 11" and rates EX-MT (staple mark) with a blue-ink "9" signature. Auction LOA from JSA.

Also included is a file copy of Bavasi's unsigned 1/22/69 reply, which is equally interesting and mentions George Selkirk, Don Drysdale, Maury Wills, Willie Davis and Zoilo Versalles. It reads in part, "It has been such a long time I just cannot recall how I came up with that figure but I know I am right and Gil is wrong."
