Exactly one week after hosting “Lou Gehrig Day,” Yankee Stadium was decidedly more festive as the Mid-Summer Classic was played in the Bronx for the first time. Taking “home field advantage” to a new level, American League skipper Joe McCarthy started six of his Yankees and, on the strength of a Joe DiMaggio home run, piloted the hosts to a 3-1 triumph. This program was issued at Yankee Stadium for that star-studded exhibition. The eight-page guide shows absolutely stunning condition! Covers and crisp pages are completely intact and, save for a penciled notation of “7/11/39” on the front cover, virtually flawless. On the center pages, scoring grids feature pre-printed lineups that include DiMaggio in the No. 3 slot. The grids are unmarked, adding to the item’s pristine status.
