The face of the Washington Senators for parts of five decades, Hall of Famer Clark Griffith was the endorser of this vintage baseball. While the orb appears to have seen extensive diamond use, remnants of the trademark stampings pinpoint the OAL Johnson keepsake specifically to the 1927 season. Beginning on the sweet spot, Griffith’s black-ink steel tip fountain pen scripting extends to the adjacent (east) panel and maintains (“3-4”) strength and clarity. The west panel is signed by Bump Hadley (“4” strength), while the north panel is signed by Bing Miller (“2” strength). Additional signatures are not visible, thus deemed inconclusive.
