James Taylor was part of the scene from Magid's earliest days. Writing about the year 1969 and the then-new Spectrum arena, Magid recalls, "James Taylor had played the Electric Factory, and I sensed that he could project to a larger audience; after having him play the Academy of Music a couple of times, I booked him into the Spectrum." Here, Sweet Baby James returned to the venue with Carole King, just weeks after the release of her legendary album Tapestry.
