In the 34 seasons between the Philadelphia Phillies 1915 and 1950 pennants, the franchise endured 31 losing seasons and 16 last-place finishes. Oh, it must have been a joy to craft this 1950 gonfalon! Framed to dimensions of 35-1/4 x 18-1/4” under a maroon matte, the full-size felt banner proudly proclaims “NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS – 1950” with the script-style “Phillies” accented by stars to dot the lower-case “i”s. There are (30) Phillies last names/uniform numbers listed in white cursive, while a sliding baserunner likeness accents the display. This rare survivor is listed as “Very Rare” in Mike Egner’s 2013 Vintage Pennant Price Guide II. The felt shows minimal wear with pinholes at the corners from previous proud display. The spine remains intact and the applique is near 100 percent! This one’s a beauty!
