Description

No baseball HOFer autograph collection is complete without the immortal Jimmie Foxx (d.1967). Endowed with Superman-like strength, "The Beast" launched 534 bombs out of MLB ballparks, while annihilating opposing pitchers. Though his career spanned twenty seasons, realistically it was the fourteen-year period 1928-1941 that saw him do all the damage. During this period he amassed 3 MVP awards and 516 homers, becoming the second player in history to reach the 500 mark, which he did before his 33rd birthday.

From the kingdom of "absolutely must have it" comes this Foxx single-signed baseball. This solid sphere is covered with a thin, uneven coating of shellac, with a few abrasions interrupting the light walnut toning the ball has acquired. Located in prime position on the sweet spot, Foxx's signature shows distinct ("7") strength and is unaffected by any of the abrasions, which occur at points other than the sweet spot. Noted on the accompanying full photo LOA from JSA as an "Official Regulation League" baseball, this ancient orb shows great period authenticity and a firm, clearly recognizable autograph.
