A full 33 years after he hit .400, Hall of Famer Ted Williams offered hitting instructions in a film entitled “The Science of Hitting.” Given a $500 budget and appearances by then-current stars Johnny Bench, Al Kaline, Harmon Killebrew, Bobby Murcer, Frank Robinson, Pete Rose and Billy Williams, The Fenway great made a 28-minute film filled with sage advice that holds true to this day. This vintage 1974 example is autographed by Williams. The 16mm reel is complete in its original 13-1/4 x 13-1/4” sturdy plastic case distributed by Sears (for which Williams was a long-time spokesperson). On the front of the case, Williams as personalized the item and added a “Best Wishes” salutation. His black marker signature projects (“8-9”) strength and clarity. Auction LOA from JSA.
