”The Galloping Ghost” rides again with this vintage movie poster. Football Hall of Fame running back “Red” Grange capitalized on the fame he earned for his tremendous gridiron play, by appearing in several Hollywood films, including a serial that went under the banner of his nickname “The Galloping Ghost”. Produced during the early days of the big screen’s transition to “talkies”, this 12-part adventure saw Grange fill a role that was second nature to him, that of a football star. Grange portrays a disgraced player thrown off his college team for attacking a teammate that takes a bribe. As expected our hero tracks down the culprit gamblers and wins his way back onto the team, rah, rah!
Movie buffs and football fanatics take the field to tackle this great crossover item, an original poster used to promote this 1931 production. This dynamic display piece sees Grange upside down up above the clouds, alongside his female costar Dorothy Gulliver in an incredible aerial scene with a smoking biplane in the background. Mounted to a heavy-stock backer board, this commanding 25-1/4 x 39” poster shows solid (VG) quality with moderate wear mainly at the corners. Muted color tones, stylish artwork and bold graphics blend together nicely, forming fantastic display appeal that results in a real attention grabber.
