While Lou Gehrig seldom got his proper recognition while in the sizable shadow of teammate Babe Ruth, he did secure a “Tarzan” photo shoot and a few endorsements. A prominent spokesperson for Ken-Wel sporting goods, Gehrig autographed this 1930s baseball. The off-white sphere has minor surface wear, but clear and legible trademark stampings. On a side panel, Gehrig has signed in steel tip fountain pen (“3-4” strength). On that same panel, we find the signatures of Joe McCarthy ("3" strength),  and former Boston Braves infielders Pinky Whitney ("3" strength) and Billy Urbanski (“3-4” strength).
