Contemporaries of legendary status, Mickey Mantle and Sandy Koufax faced each other in only two games and a total of eight plate appearances. So while they starred in different circuits, destined to meet in only one Fall Classic, both have autographed their likeness in this Hall of Fame display duet. Includes:
Mickey Mantle: a 16x20” poster board on which an 8x10” color photo of Mantle is autographed in black marker (“8” strength) and inscribed “1951-1968.” Surrounding the photo are (10) images of coveted Mantle trading cards. Full photo LOA from JSA.
Sandy Koufax: an 8 x 9-7/8” color photo of a youthful Koufax in his Brooklyn Dodgers attire. The item is signed by Koufax in black marker (“6-7” strength). Comes with a cert/sticker from JSA.
Incidentally, you might say that Koufax got the better of Mantle in the aforementioned World Series meetings (1963, Games 1 and 4), as Mantle went a combined one-for-seven with a walk and three strikeouts. But that one hit was Mantle’s 15th of a record 18 career World Series home runs, which tied Babe Ruth’s mark.
