On the short list of most important baseball autographs, you will find Mr. Jack Roosevelt Robinson. Demonstrating both extraordinary talent and supreme courage, Jackie rode his historic barrier breaking career all the way to the Hall of Fame. Certainly others performed at a higher level and sooner or later the color line had to be crossed, but imagine greats such as Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Roy Campanella and Roberto Clemente, who may have played less in the majors or not at all, if somebody hadn’t stepped up in time. Well that someone was Jackie Robinson and his place in baseball lore will remain forever bright.

Brighten your autograph collection with this Robinson (d.1972) signed 1939 Baseball Centennial FDC. This well-appointed cover is printed with a colorful celebration scene of baseball’s 100th birthday at left and stamped at top right with a three-cent stamp showing kids playing ball. The stamp is cancelled with a 6/12/39 “First Day Issue” postmark and the envelope shows solid (VG-EX+) quality. Located at bottom center, Robinson’s neatly applied ballpoint pen autograph shows all you could want (“9”) strength. Full photo LOA from JSA.
