The prototypical shortstop, Tommy Corcoran (d.1960) logged just 34 home runs over his 18-year career (1890-1907), yet set a still-standing Major League record with 14 assists in a 9-inning game. This ONL Giles baseball is autographed by the Connecticut native and former barehanded infielder. The creamy sphere (grade “7-8”) dates to 1958-1960. On the sweet spot, the ballpoint scripting reads: “Tom W. Corcoran” and is accented by a lengthy paraph. The signature projects (“6-7”) strength. Note: while there are (2) faded and illegible autographs on adjacent panels, this presents as a single-signed ball. This is a rare treasure linked to the origins of our great game.
