Hail a great baseball Chief with this ancient signature cut. A major force of the Philadelphia Athletics great dynasty of the early 20th Century, "Chief" Bender helped his team to five AL pennants and three World Series championships durng his 1903-1914 tenure with the A's. The crafty "deadball" era hurler perfected the "nickle-curve" pitch, earning him enshrinement in the Hall of Fame. Unfortunately Bender passed away just months before his induction in 1954.

This long ago departure puts his autograph way up on the very tough list, so it's going to cost you a good bit more than a nickle to walk away with this Bender signature cut. Clipped from an envelope, this 2-3/4 x 1-1/2" cut is adhered to a vintage 4x6 album page. Bender's autograph shows bold ("9") quality, accompanied by his former address "Ogontz Manor, Phila". Auction LOA from JSA.
