One of the better to teams to complete in the short-lived All-America Football Conference was the New York Yankees. Under the leadership of team owner Dan Topping and coach Ray Flaherty, the Yankees made the playoffs in three of the four years the AAFC existed, with back to back championship game appearances against the unbeatable Cleveland Browns.
Advanced football collectors make a winning score with this selection of (8) 1948-1949 AAFC Yankees 8x10 photos. Very hard to come by on an individual basis, these original period 1st generation photos are truly something to get excited about, as groups of this size are simply not to be had.
Presenting in average to better condition with pleasing gloss and sharp images, this lot includes HOFer Arnie Weinmeister (VG+) with identifying notations written on the top of the front and back; and (7) others with: Otto Schnellbacher (VG-EX), Ed Sharkey (VG-EX+) with reverse side team stamp, Joe Magliolo (GD), Harmon Rowe (GD-VG) with reverse side team stamp, Don Panciera (VG-EX) with Bob Olen photographer's credit stamp on reverse side, Martin Ruby (VG-EX) with reverse side team stamp, Jack Russell (VG).
