Description

Art Modell's back-to-back brainchild made history as the first NFL doubleheader. But even greater historical significance came in between games when #1 draft pick (and Heisman Trophy winner) Ernie Davis was introduced to the Cleveland crowd and received a tremendous ovation. Tragically, of course, the Elmira Express would never play a single down in the NFL before succumbing to complications of leukemia at the tender age of 23. This 8-1/4 x 11" doubleheader program pictures Browns staples like Jim Brown and Lou Groza, as well as a little-known 7th-round draft pick by the name of John Havlicek. VG condition with an ink notation on front. The 4 x 2-1/2" full stub rates VG-EX.
