One of the most important heavyweight championship fights of all-time took place in 1892 at the Olympic Club in New Orleans. This fight saw "Gentleman Jim" Corbett take the crown by defeating popular champion John L. Sullivan. Recall this historic event with this 1893 Red Cross N266 Corbett vs. Sullivan tobacco card. Graded (20 FAIR 1.5) by SGC, this impressive cardboard classic shows delightful mid-grade detail on the obverse, with captivating art images of the legendary champions with the title "Left Hand Swing on the Jaw" at top and Red Cross Long Cut" advertising at bottom. Printed with a "P. Lorillard Company" manufacturing credit, the reverse shows as a bit lesser, with moderate staining at center and some small abrasions at bottom, likely being the reasons for the assigned grade. Overall a very pleasing example, with nicely detailed art renderings.
