Get a look at the business of being president with this signed typed letter. In the course of affairs 36th POTUS Lyndon B. Johnson (D.1973) performed many tasks big and small, while fulfilling the duties of Chief Executive. Dated 5/15/65, this 6-3/4 x 8-3/4” sheet of White House stationery is typed with a response to an inquiry from then Governor of Pennsylvania William H. Scranton, regarding the site of a proposed “Middle Atlantic water pollution control laboratory”. Bearing two original period folds and one additional fold, this crisp correspondence remains in sturdy (VG-EX+) condition with deference to some inconsequential pinholes in the field at top left. Johnson’s distinctive signature shows (“7”) potency in the expected location, following the succinct closing “Sincerely”. Also of note is a Governor’s Office stamp on the reverse dated 3/17/65, along with various penciled notations. Auction LOA from JSA.
