Johnson (D.1973) performed many tasks big and small, while fulfilling the duties of Chief Executive. Dated 5/15/65, this 6-3/4 x 8-3/4” sheet of White House stationery is typed with a response to an inquiry from then Governor of Pennsylvania William H. Scranton, regarding the site of a proposed “Middle Atlantic water pollution control laboratory”. Bearing two original period folds and one additional fold, this crisp correspondence remains in sturdy (VG-EX+) condition with deference to some inconsequential pinholes in the field at top left. Johnson’s distinctive signature shows (“7”) potency in the expected location, following the succinct closing “Sincerely”.
