Description

Revisit the Pittsburgh Pirates stunning 1960 World Series upset of the mighty New York Yankees, with this group of (3) 1960 Fall Classic souvenirs. The Yankees were armed with some serious firepower, fielding the likes of Mickey Mantle, 1960 AL MVP Roger Maris, Yogi Berra, and 1960 WS MVP Bobby Richardson. The Pirates countered with Roberto Clemente, 1960 NL MVP Dick Groat, Smoky Burgess, and Bill Mazeroski. Richardson remains the only player to earn MVP honors on the losing side, however the biggest hero is Mazeroski, who belted a walk-off homer in Game 7, to clinch the Bucs victory. These marquis stars and others played a hand in what is considered one of the most memorable World Series meetings of all-time, and this period trio serves as a great reminder of this magnificent event.

Featured are:

Game 1 ticket stub shows EX+ details with deference to a couple of small stains on the perimeter. Roger Maris, Elston Howard, and Bill Mazeroski all hit home runs in this game, and Vern Law got the win for the Pirates.

Game 2 ticket stub is signed ("10") by Mazeroski, and shows VG details with deference to light staining on the right end. Auction LOA from JSA for the autograph. Mickey Mantle mashed two home runs in this game, which saw Bob Turley get the win in a 16-3 Yankees blowout.

1960 World Series smoked glass ashtray (EX-MT) due to a very small chip on the back of the top left corner. The full gold lettering includes the legend "Bucs Beat Yanks" across the bottom, and the sides are lined with player illustrations.

Also present in an uncounted commemorative Pittsburgh Gazette pin, in attractive condition, with one small chip.
