"Double X" marks the spot of a significant collectible treasure with this single-signed baseball. The Philadelphia Athletics answer to Babe Ruth, mighty slugger Jimmie Foxx (d.1967) did the "monster-mash" all over American League pitching. Foxx led a superb team of A's to three consecutive pennants and two World Series victories, overtaking the fearsome "Murderer's Row" Yankees hit squad during the period 1929-1931. He followed up this titanic feat by capturing back to back MVP awards in 1932-1933 and scored a third such honor in 1938, before retiring as just the second MLB player to slug 500+ home runs.

"The Beast" has made his mark on this generic "Professional HHC" baseball, with a ("5") strength autograph. This sweet spot signature shows moderate fading of the given name "Jimmie", however the "Foxx" surname is bolder, with the trademark "XX" standing out nicely. A light abrasion appears above the given name, but does not make contact with the fountain pen signature and otherwise the ball is solid with a period appropriate aged look. As noted in the accompanying full photo LOA from JSA, Foxx has also applied a personalized "Best Wishes" greeting on the west panel adjacent to the sweet spot. A must for HOF autograph collectors, this important relic is a great prize.
