Timing-wise, in terms of trying to date the creamy-toned Spalding ball, it's worth noting that Jimmy Pattison played only in 1929 (hurling 11 innings over 6 games for the Dodgers), while Hal Schumacher and Blondy Ryan arrived with the Giants in the early 1930s.
