Description

Famous foes who became friends are spotlighted with this pair of heavyweight boxing champs autographs. Joe Louis and Max Schmeling met in the ring twice, first in 1936, with Schmeling the winner by a 12th round KO, and then in 1938, when Louis returned the favor with a 1st round KO of the German-born fighter. Louis went on to become the longest reigning champion in boxing history, while Schmeling became a successful businessman, and helped Louis financially in his later years. Recall these cordial combatants, with these (2) signature cuts.

Featured are: Louis signed ("4-5") 4x9 publication photo clipping; and Schmeling signed ("8") 6x4 cut with "March 1937" inscription, and "With best wishes" salutation. Auction LOA from JSA.

Also present are: 12/47 The Ring magazine with Louis cover (VG); and 1937 Ardath Cigarettes Schmeling card (EX).
